I.                   Aim

1.)    To Identification of Acid and Base

2.)    To differentiate acid compund from base compund

        

II.                Basic Theory

Acid  and Base compounds can be identified safely by using indicators. Indicators are color substance whic show different colors in acidic and basic conditions common indicators are litmus papers, acid base solution indicators and natural indicators.

Acid – base compounds can be identified by using litmus paper, we can observe the changing of litmus paper color when it reacts with the solution. Red itmus paper which is put into acidic solution will remain red. If the paper is put into  basic solution ( alkali ), it will turn into red, while if it is put into basic solution, it will remain blue.

Acid – base indicator solution is chemical substance which shows different colors in acidic and basic solution. The characteristics is used to identify acid and basic properties.

Natural indicators can also identify acidic and alkali solution. These indicators are made of species, flowers, and fruits.

IV.             Steps

1.  First, prepare all of tools and material which we need to this

    experiment.

2.  Then. Clean the chemical of pallette

3.  Third, In the chemical of pallette fill the first hole with red litmus paper ( LR ),  the second hole with blue litmus     ( LB ),  the third hole with Methyl Orange ( MO ). The Fourth hole with Phenolphthalein ( PO ),  The Fifth hole with Methyl Red ( MR ),  The Sixth hole with Bromothymol Blue ( BTB ),  The Seventh hole with turmeneric, and the last hole with hibidicus flower.

4.  Next, drop the HCL solution in every hole in the chemical pallette ( Max. 3 dropped )

5.  Then, observe and write down the change colors which happened in the every acid - base indicators.

6.  After that, do the same activities from the 2 ^nd until 5 ^th by turns to the other solutions.

7.  Finally, arrange the chemical report as the result of experiment.
